Retail electronics giant Best Buy has announced that it will be launching its electronics recycling program nationwide starting on February 15 in all of its US retail stores. The retail giant says that it will expand the program to cover stores in Puerto Rico sometime in 2010.

The program will allow Best Buy customers to bring up to two units per day, per households for recycling at any Best Buy store in America. Electronics accepted will include TVs and monitors up to 32-inches, CPUs, notebooks, small electronics, VCRs, and DVD players.

Other items accepted include phones, keyboards, and mice. Alas, the program is not free; Best Buy will charge $10 per unit for items with a screen like TVs and notebooks. However, Best Buy says that it will give the customer a $10 gift card in exchange for the recycling fee. If that makes little sense to you, you are not alone. Californians don’t have to pay the recycling fee and Best Buy branded products have no fee to recycle.
