According to a new study, most consumers see netbooks as secondary devices. I am not surprised at that fact, I am betting that many American consumers still look at notebooks as secondary devices. Notebooks sales are just now slowing down from outpacing desktop computer sales.
A full 79% of consumers surveyed said that netbooks are secondary devices to another notebook or desktop computer. Only 11% of those who responded to the survey said they could use a netbook as their only computer.
Personally, I think for many consumers a netbook would happily suffice as their only computer with a few additions. For the user who only needs to type a few documents, surf the net and email, a netbook with an external display, decent mouse and an external keyboard will be more than capable of being the only computer in the home and be much more portable than your typical notebook when it's time to hit the road.
