T-Mobile has announced a new Moto handset called the W233 Renew. The handset is described as the ideal mobile phone for eco-conscious consumers and is exclusive to T-Mobile. The entire housing of the plastic phone is made from recycled water bottles and is recyclable itself.
The Renew is eco friendly and cheap at $9.99 with a 2-year service agreement. Motorola works with a company called Carbonfund.org to offset the carbon dioxide required to make, distribute and operate the phone with investments in renewable energy sources.
The battery promises 9 hours of talk time and all packaging the phone ships in is made from recycled materials. A pre-paid label is included in the box for users to recycle the phone when the time comes. Materials used in the packaging are also reduced by 22%.
