Amazon unveiled the new Kindle 2 eBook reader and at the same time stopped taking orders for the original Kindle. Kindle was out of stock, but Amazon gave a shipping date still this morning of 2-4 weeks.
I have no confirmation of this but I assume if you still did not get Kindle that your ordered in the last couple of weeks you will be receiving already Kindle 2. I would check with Amazon though to make sure that this is the case.
Update: Amazon confirms Kindle order upgrade:
"If you have previously placed an order for Kindle 1, and have not yet received it, your order will automatically be upgraded to Kindle 2. You need to do nothing. If you currently own a Kindle 1, we want to be sure you are first in line to receive Kindle 2. Place your Kindle 2 order by midnight PST on February 10th and you will receive first priority. "
I could not find any statement on the supply situation for the new Kindle 2. Will it sell out again within days? Kindle 2 is available for pre-order on Amazon.com for $359 and ships February 24th.
More details on what is new with the Kindle 2 can be found in our earlier report.
