In September 2008 the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) aka Black Hole Maker died 10 days after turning it on. Now CERN says the LHC is going to see the restart earliest September of 2009.
The first collisions will be then in late October. All LHC apocalypse believers can enjoy still this summer before the LHC will produce a black hole that sucks in the earth in Fall. The new plan also sees a short technical stop over the Christmas period. The LHC will then run through to autumn next year, ensuring that the experiments have adequate data to carry out their first new physics analyses and have results to announce in 2010. The new schedule also permits the possible collisions of lead ions in 2010.
More details on the CERN site.
