Bitstream has announced a new and free public beta program for its BOLT Mobile Browser. The browser was previously only available by invitation. BOLT is built to offer fast mobile web surfing and to provide a desktop style view of web pages on even basic phones.
The invitation only beta for the browser used 30,000 betas testers and as of today, anyone can download the beta version of the browser. BOLT promises 25% faster operation routinely and up to 50% faster operation than some other browsers.
The browser also claims to be able to extend battery life of the mobile device without sacrificing the quality of the browsing experience. Magnification technology is used to allow users to zoom in on sections of the page being viewed. The browser sounds like it has features similar to the browser on the iPhone.
