EA is big in the sports video game arena with titles like Madden and many more. EA and partner Toy Island have announced that they intend to bring a line of sporting goods to market. The products will be badged as EA Sports and aimed at kids.
EA says that the products will add new wrinkles to classic sports activities using infrared, motion, and equilibrium sensors. The sensors will allow the sporting goods to act like coaches and instruct the user on techniques for speed and power.
Toys are in development for football, soccer, baseball, basketball, and hockey. Among the products will be interactive training tools with voice commands and coaching elements. A game in a box will be offered that includes all the gear needed to play a sport. A line of sports toys will reward kids with sounds when they use proper techniques. A basic line of foam balls will also be offered. All products will be aimed at different age groups from 3 to 12 years old and are expected to launch this year.
