Samsung introduced an interesting new phone at MWC 2009 called the Beat Edition GT-M7600. The handset is billed as the world's first phone with DJ-style music effects. The music effects the phone offers are powered by software from NXP Software called LifeVibes Mix DJ FX.

Using the software the phone is able to create DJ-style music effects like flanging, phasing, reverb, and time stretching. The phone allows users to overlay audio clips and do instant scratching. Users can make their own DJ style tracks and listen to them or set them as their ringtone.

NXP says the software is easy to run, has minimal effects on battery life, and uses the handsets touchscreen interface. The effects produced are completely software based with a simple API. DJ-effects built into a phone are one of the stranger concepts to come out of MWC 2009 so far.
