Since Circuit City has announced that it is closing all of its stores, the electronics giant has been selling off its entire remaining inventory at reduced prices. I mentioned in January that the discounts on items like TVs were growing.
According to Circuit City so far in its closing sales over $1 billion in goods have been sold. The total inventory that was sitting in stores and warehouses when the liquidation sales started was $1.7 billion. That means that there is a good amount of stuff still left to move at this point.
You can expect discounts to grow as the firm moves to sell the remaining items it has around before it closes its doors forever. A spokesman for the firm handling the liquidation sales says that more than 272,700 flat screen TVs have been sold over the past month and more than 53,800 home theater systems have been sold among other items.
