Olympus has announced a new entry-level DSLR camera called the E-620. The camera has Art filters and multiple Exposures built-in for artistic shots made easy. Olympus says that the camera body weighs a bit over one pound at 18.9 ounces.
The camera claims to be the world's smallest DSLR with in-body image stabilization to reduce blur in images. The rear LCD is a 2.7-inch unit with Live View and the camera sensor has 12.3 megapixels. The Artistic filters include Pop Art, Soft Focus, Pale & Light color, Light Tone, Grainy Film, and Pinhole.
In addition to Live View, the LCD also swivels with 270 degrees of motion. Face Detection allows the camera to distinguish between faces and backgrounds to be sure faces are in focus. Wireless flash compatibility is built into the camera as well as a dust reduction system for cleaning the camera internals. The camera will be available in May with the body selling for $699.99 and a kit with an ED 14-42mm lens selling for $799.99.
