The technology publication InformationWeek has been published for a long time now. The publication has announced that it intends to offer digital only versions of its publication starting this year. Four digital-only issues will be offered this year in an attempt to go green.
Many print publications are eyeing digital issues for other reasons, to save money. The print world is in a crisis with the current economy, reduced advertising, increased costs and less subscribers. PC World went digital this year in an effort to stay viable.
According to InformationWeek, four issues of the publication will be offered as digital only in 2009 and for each of the first 5000 downloads, the publication will plant a tree with a total of 20000 new trees planted by the magazine. The printed total of the magazine will be decreased four issues for the year.
