Garmin announced new GPS devices today that are aimed at automotive and pedestrian use. The new units include products for the nuvi 1200 and nuvi 1300 series. The new systems have very thin designs and were introduced at CeBIT today.
Both of the series offer new optional CityXplorer maps that allow pedestrian navigation for select tourist destinations in North America and Europe. Some models in the new series offer free lifetime traffic data access and lane assist.
Garmin says that CityXplorer maps cost between $9.99 and $14.99 depending on the city. All the devices come with a feature called ecoRoute that suggest fuel-efficient routes. All models in the 1300 range use a 4.3-inch touchscreen and text to speech technology. The 1200 series offers a 3.5-inch screen and text to speech. Pricing for the new models ranges from $199.99 to $449.99.
