Apple unveiled new iMac All-in-One computers and new Mac mini computers this week. The new hardware features new Intel CPUs and more important new NVIDIA graphics chipsets.
Apple Insider reports that benchmark tests by Primate Labs show that the CPU and memory specific tasks did not dramatically change from the previous iMacs and Mac mini.
They did not test the graphics performance, which Apple highlights in their announcements.
CNET did a more application specific testing that should tell more about what end users can expect from the new hardware. CNET tested the Mac mini and got mixed results.
The CNET tests of the new iMac show solid performance compared to other all-in-one PCs.
Overall there are no surprising performance gains in the new Apple desktop computers, but for Apple anyway the overall experience is what makes the difference.
