A group of organizations from Minnesota are working together to make the digital transition, now postponed until June, easier for the poor and needy. The organization is working to provide DTV converters in some homes at no charge to the people.

The company is also running a program where you can send them extra converter coupons that you won't need. There are sure to be many people who get a coupon and then opt for cable or satellite programming. The coupon program is a mess right now with a massive backlog of requests and more coming in as we approach the modified deadline for conversion.

According to the organization, over 50% of the coupons that were sent out so far by the government have expired. The out of pocket cost for most users will be in the $20 range with a converter coupon, which is more than the most needy might be able to afford.
