The WSJ reports that IBM is in talks to buy Sun Microsystems according to people familiar with the matter.
IBM is thought to pay at least $6.5 billion in cash to acquire Sun if a deal really does happen.
Theoretically there is a good fit between Sun and IBM. Both are enterprise focused companies and love the Open-Source community and hate Microsoft.
If IBM were to acquire Sun it would mean the largest acquisition for the company. HP would not be happy about such a deal as IBM would gain quite a bit of strength with this deal.
More details on WSJ.
