Garmin is one of the biggest names in GPS navigation and the company has introduced a new GPS device for the biggest vehicles on the road -- 18-wheelers. Garmin's new nuvi 465T is a GPS device designed specifically for the needs of long haul truckers.
The device supports multiple truck profiles and allows the user to enter the truck dimensions and load restrictions and the device plots routes that the vehicle is allowed to take. The device also adds locations from the NTTS that shows where the closest repair facility is for the vehicle.
Other features of the device are lifetime free traffic alerts in most major metro areas and notifications for road construction and more. Multi-point routing is supported as well, letting users plot a route with multiple stops. The device has a 4.3-inch screen and is preloaded with maps of the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. The device will sell for $499.99 and availability is set for Q2 2009.
