Apple released the beta of the iPhone 3.0 OS to developers on Tuesday. We already reported about unannounced functions that got discovered like Find my iPhone and USB tethering. Now BGR reports about device IDs found in the iPhone 3.0 firmware restore ramdisk that point to multiple new iPhone and iPod touch hardware devices.
I am not sure if we actually need any kind of more evidence that a new iPhone 2009 will be arriving this summer, but hey it does not hurt.
The list of device id's found on the iPhone 3.0 OS firmware has a match with an ID that already appeared in an iPhone 2.x update. The ID iPhone2,1 has been listed there. The current iPhone 3G is labeled internally as iPhone1,2, while the original iPhone started with iPhone1,1.
In the iPhone 3.0 OS the iPhone3,1 ID is also present which is kind of exciting as it would mean to major iPhone device that might be very different.
Something to dream about until summer.
