Microsoft has announced that support has been gathered for a coming Windows Mobile application store called Windows Marketplace for Mobile. The store will be much like the Apple App Store that has been such a huge hit and massive moneymaker for Apple and its iPhone/iPod touch.
Microsoft says that it has gathered support for the marketplace from some of the biggest companies in the mobile entertainment and software realm. Among the companies that will be producing applications for Windows Mobile 6.5 devices are EA mobile, Facebook, Glu Mobile, MySpace, Namco, Netflix, and many more.
Microsoft says that customers will be able to purchase applications on the Windows Marketplace for Mobile store with a credit card or have the charges appear directly on their phone bill. Interestingly, people will be able to return applications purchased within 24 hours for a full refund and developers will be able to offer updates to applications for free.
