Google rumored to buy Twitter

All the talk about Twitter and real-time search trigger of course ideas that Google might have an interest in protecting its turf. TechCrunch reports that their sources told them that Google is in acquisition talks with Twitter.
One of the Twitter founders, Evan Williams, knows how to sell to Google. He sold Blogger to Google already a while back.
The Google buying Twitter rumor could also just be false and Google may be just trying to sell them their search engine for the site.
I think that Google would like to buy Twitter and they have the cash to do it. On the other hand, right now is not a good time to sell a startup and Twitter is in no hurry. There is no competition that is knocking yet on this "You are not allowed to post more than 140 characters messaging service."
