Sony Ericsson today unveiled the W205 Walkman slider mobile phone, a low-end model targeted at younger, first-time mobile phone buyers.
The W205 does not stray far from the active and sporty spirit of other mobiles in the Walkman line, offering the standard Walkman music player, Track ID song identifier, and FM radio in addition to a 1.3 megapixel camera with 2.2x digital zoom and Bluetooth technology.
At 3.4 oz the W205 is a bit heavier than the W350, another low-end Walkman model released in 2008 that some critics faulted for flimsy construction.
Those looking to enjoy their music beyond the standard speaker can invest in the Sony Ericsson MS410 Snap-on Speaker Stand accessory, offering “surprisingly good” stereo sound, according to the release.
Expect the W205 Walkman in select markets this quarter with the US version arriving in Q3. Pricing was not available, though an unlocked W350 costs $175 on release.
