A new iPhone rumor is making the rounds as SlashPhone is reporting on a China Times story that, according to iPhone component manufacturers, Apple is expected to ship out 4 million units by the end of Q2. This aligns nicely with previous rumors suggesting a June iPhone release.
China Times also reports that “Apple will launch a total of 3 new iPhone,” further fueling speculation that Apple is slated to release multiple models of the popular mobile. Apple Insider claimed last month that analysts were predicting the release of high-end and low-end models, each aimed a different world markets.
According to MacRumors, China Times correctly predicted the 2007 release of the original iPhone.
If the 4 million figure is accurate, the iPhone 2009 release could dwarf 2008’s iPhone 3G release, which sold 1 million units its first weekend. The original iPhone only sold 270,000 units during its launch weekend, according to Apple.
