Last week we reported about a WSJ story that claimed that Steve Jobs is working on an Apple Netbook aka MacBook mini during his medical leave. Today Digitimes reports that the Chinese language newspaper Commercial Times says that Foxconn is in the running to land orders for a netbook from Apple.
Foxconn is also expected to have a major shipment growth in Q2 driven by Apple MacBooks.
I am actually not too excited about an Apple netbook unless Apple can get the price down under $500. A $499 OS X netbook could mix up the netbook market quite a bit. If the price is above $500 an Apple Netbook would be a niche product and not bother other netbook makers.
