Ars Technica is reporting that sources have found voice control features buried in the new iPhone 3.0 OS, including voice synthesis and speech recognition. Codenamed 'Jibbler,' Ars reports that the new features work off of the SpringBoard application, which is essentially the iPhone’s answer to the Mac OS “Finder.”

What does this mean for users? Most likely, users may be able to launch and close programs via voice command, and of course, voice dialing. There is also the intriguing prospect of voice transcribing for emails and text messages. Not exactly groundbreaking technology, but fun none the less.

Apple has already implemented limited voice functionality with the latest iPod Shuffle and its VoiceOver feature. However, that feature is limited to voice synthesis.
