Quickoffice today defied anyone claiming the iPhone is not a business tool with the release of their Quickoffice Mobile Office Suite in the App Store, describing it as “the most advanced mobile office suite available for the iPhone. Ever.”
Through the Quickoffice app, iPhone users can finally view and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents. And yes, users can cut and paste… even into other documents. Other features include rich text editing and formatting, undo/redo changes, cell formatting, Excel formulas and calculations, and the ability to remotely upload files from a MobileMe iDisk account.
The app requires at least iPhone 2.1 software and the app also works with the iPod touch. It’s available for $19.99 from the App Store on iTunes.
Early user reviews have not been kind. The application currently rates at two-and-a-half stars in the App Store with users complaining of bugs and missing functionality. ZDNet’s Matthew Miller claims, “Quickoffice is a very promising application, but a few areas make it a ‘beta’ release in my book and I can understand some of the low ranking on iTunes.”
Quickoffice has previously released similar applications for BlackBerry handhelds.
