It was written on the wall for a while now, Ugobe maker of the Pleo baby Dino robot filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. The corporate site and the Pleo community site have already gone offline.
The Idiastatesman has some details on the Ugobe Bankruptcy.
Apparently 100,000 Pleos have been sold last year amounting in 20 million in revenues.
Inventor Caleb Chung also was behind the smash hit Furby back in the day. I would have liked to see more Ugobe life forms hit the market.
With 100,000 Pleos there is the potential for a nice little community like there has been or still is for the Sony Aibo robot dog.
Amazon still sells the Pleo for $199.99.
If you own a Pleo you can check the Pleo Blog on Robots Rule. Robert Oschler said he will continue to update the blog to support Pleo parents.
