Laptop Magazine reports that a recurring rumor has popped up again that claims NVIDIA Ion-based netbooks are set to launch in July with the announcements coming in June. The ion platform was first mentioned as a way for netbooks to get the capability to process HD video.
Ion debuted at CES earlier this year, but no computers using the platform were seen at the show. Acer has unveiled a small HTPC machine that uses the Ion platform called the AspireRevo already, but still no netbooks are on the market.
Laptop reports that the June announcements will come from several netbook makers and key players at Computex in Taiwan this June. A source at Asus told me during CES that Ion would add too much to the cost of a netbook to be considered, so I am interested to see what the price of an Ion netbook will be.
