Sensitive Object, a Paris-based start-up, today unveiled a product that could revolutionize the world of gadgets. The Anywhere Multitouch provides touch-sensitivity over the entire surface of whatever product it is used with. The Multitouch platform works on a variety of materials and is to be offered at a very competitive price.

The Anywhere Multitouch works using Sensitive Object's patented ReverSys technology, which picks up on sound waves vibrating through solid objects. The Multitouch shouldn't be difficult to fit into even the tiniest products; all it requires are two tiny sensors and a controller.

When you touch the product, the vibrations from your touch travel through the object and hit the sensors. The sensors pick up on where you touched the object based on the different sound the vibrations of your touch made. This allows your computer to be touch sensitive over every square inch of its surface.

If it works, the applications of the Anywhere Multitouch are staggering in number. For one, they could allow Netbook owners to transform their old machines into touchbooks with a simple installation. This new Touch platform should also give game designers a lot of new options for cell phone games, as well as next-generation portable game-players.
