Ever since the Wii became a hyper success the PS3 and the Xbox 360 have been rumored to be getting the same type of controllers to match the success of the Wii.
Variety (via Kotaku) reports now that they got word from several sources that Sony is showing a new motion sensing controller at the E3 2009 in June.
The Sony Motion sensor is apparently using LED light sources and a webcam to track motion. This approach is supposed to have more accuracy.
The PS3 controller has been criticized from day one as it looked the same as the PS2 controller and many gamers saw it as non-innovative. The 3D motion sensor inside has not been helping much. The PS3 with its Cell fire power would need a cool new input device that takes the gaming experience to the next level.
The new E3 2009 Video Game Trade show takes place June 2-4, 2009 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Sony is also rumored to be showing a new Sony PSP.
