Monster has announced that it is now shipping a pair of GreenPower Energy-saving Power Centers for home theaters. The two products are the HDP 850G and the HDP 900G. the devices sell for $99.95 and $129.95 respectively.

The two power strips protect home theater equipment connected to them from surges and other power issues. The new green versions of the products automatically turn the power completely off to home theater equipment when the gear isn’t in use.

The point of the products is to help reduce the amount of parasitic power loss by components that are turned off, but remain in standby mode drawing power. The power strips work by plugging the main device, like the TV, into the green outlet and when it goes off the power to the other components is turned off as well.
