Yesterday the word about a new large screen Kindle 3 appeared again and Amazon actually scheduled a media event tomorrow to unveil something.
Engadget got some information along with a couple of blurry photos that show the new large screen Kindle. Apparently it is dubbed Kindle DX and features a 9.7 inch screen.
The Kindle DX shown in the images looks as unsexy as ever, but has a larger screen. Features of the Kindle DX are supposed to include a pdf reader and the pricing of the NY Times subscription is supposed to be $9.95/month.
The WSJ reports that a big angle of the new Kindle DX is the use of it as a textbook reader for college students. Depending how low cost Amazon can make the Kindle DX (Kindle 3), I could see it being successful as a textbook reader. I just remember how shitty it was to lug around books to class back in my student days.
