There is no doubt that the new Star Trek movie set to launch this month is going to be one of the biggest films of the summer. Fandango has announced that despite the fact that the movie doesn’t open until Thursday night at midnight, the film has already sold out more than 100 opening weekend shows around the country.

So many Star Trek tickets have sold that the sales for the film alone account for 81% of daily ticket sales on the Fandango website. Fandango has ran a Star Trek survey of more than 4,000 users and found that 83% plan to see the movie on opening weekend.

The geeks are out in force and 10% plan to show up at the theater in a costume. I wonder how many of that percentage will get beat up. 67% of those planning to see the movie are male according to the survey.
