Panasonic partners with Sumitomo Chemical to develop super-thin OLED TV panels.
According to Nikkei News, Panasonic and Sumitomo aim to develop 40 inch OLED TVs by 2010.
OLED TV development is a drag apparently. The 11-inch Sony OLED TV XEL-1 is still the only commercially available OLED TV and it is just too small and too expensive to be taken seriously. Sony is rumored to unveil a 21 or 27 inch OLED TV XEL-2 at the IFA 2009.
We will see if this really happens or if the Sony and the other electronics vendors just show OLED TV prototypes again like the did at CES 2009.
