Acer has been talking up its smartphone plans for a while now. The company is now saying that the smartphone launch is being held up for the US thanks to some sort of carrier woes. The company has now stated that it doesn't expect to launch its line of phones in American until 2010.
Acer smartphones are getting ready to hit shelves in Europe very soon. I have to wonder if Acer is having a hard time finding a cellular provider in the US that is interested in its phone. Handsets need to be pretty special to standout in a smartphone market dominated by the iPhone and Blackberry.
The first products we will see are nothing spectacular and will run Windows mobile. Acer is also said to be experimenting with Android phones as well. One of the first models we will see is the H2 that will retail for $500. Sounds about $400 too expensive to me.
