Back at CES 2009, I saw the new red Logitech Guitar controller and it was sweet. The controller was not that easy to find in stores and I was never able to get my hands on one. Logitech has now announced a new black edition Guitar controller that is specific to the Guitar Hero game.
The wireless controller is compatible with the PS3 and PS2 game consoles and has a wood neck and body. The fingerboard is made from rosewood and it has metal frets. Unlike the original red guitar that was only offered in select markets, the black edition will be available globally.
The fret buttons use rubber dome technology like a keyboard to reduce noise and it has a touch sensitive neck slider to allow for higher scoring. Wireless range is 30 feet from the console. The controller is expected to ship later this month in the U.S. for $199.99 and ship in Europe in June.
