Extech Launches New Digital Mini Microscope and Camera

Extech has unveiled a new mini microscope that integrates a digital camera with a microscope. The device features an optical zoom of 7x to 22x and it has a 4x digital zoom for a total of 108x magnification. Weight for the device is 2.5 ounces and it is more compact than the typical wireless phone.
The device has a 1.8-inch TFT color LCD screen and can be connected to a computer to use the PC LCD to view content in real-time. The microscope is suitable for a variety of tasks from soldering and printed circuit board inspection to fingerprint verification, forensics and more.
The MC108 has a 300,000 pixel CMOS sensor that can capture images and has a built-in LED illumination for better image quality. Five image modes are integrated with normal, gray, inverse, embossed, and a dual window view. A microscope stand is included. Enough memory is built-in to store up to 60 JPEGS at 320 x 240 resolution. Power comes from a trio of rechargeable AAA batteries. The MSRP for the device is $299.99.
