We've got a bunch of white-hot new info for all you BlackBerry lovers out there. Some insider with a cell phone has once again exposed the sordid secrets of a cell phone carrier to the Boy Genius crew. Here are the rumors:
First, all BlackBerry smartphones post-Tour will have WiFi. Second, the Storm 2's screen does not have SurePress. It should operate much more like a normal touchscreen now. Third, the BlackBerry Atlas is supposed to be released alongside the Tour. The Atlas will have WiFi, but the Tour will not. And, lastly, we're looking at a May or June release for the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230.
This pretty interesting information. I'm glad to hear that BlackBerry has finally moved to a full WiFi enabled line from here on out. The Tour will be the last of the old generation of BlackBerries, which is a very good thing for consumers.
I'm also really intrigued by the announcement that the Storm 2 won't have the much-advertised clicking SurePress screen. That was pretty much the whole selling point of the Storm, and it's kind of baffling that they would take it out. Consumer response to SurePress couldn't have been that negative. It might just be that the technology is too much of a pain to continue to use, or that BlackBerry determined that the phone worked much more smoothly without it.
The biggest bit of news out of this is the probable May release of the 8230. If you've been waiting for a Pearl Flip, the end of your wait is "imminent".
