Walmart is giving its 3,500 retail locations a makeover for the electronics section. With the poor economy, many consumers are shopping at Walmart for electronics that may have went to other specialty retailers before. The makeover will offer new products to Walmart customers and make the products easier to find.
Walmart says that part of the makeover will offer new color-coded and branded signs in categories like gaming and home office. New Blu-ray players will be added to the stores along with an expanded assortment of HDTVs with more 1080p and 120Hz sets.
A new display center for laptops and netbooks will also be added along with an expansion of the wireless products category by about 30%. Among the new products to be added this week and in the coming weeks are a $198 Philips Blu-ray player, the Dell Studio One 19 all-in-one, more HDTVs, the new 11-inch Acer netbook at $298 and more.
