That the new iPhone 2009 will be more or less a performance upgrade is getting more likely by the day. Usually well informed John Gruber at Daring Fireball published a lengthy piece featuring some of the rumors we already heard and constructs a solid picture of the upcoming new iPhone.
The new iPhone 2009 would have a faster CPU with 600Mhz instead of 400Mhz. Gruber predicts a 1.5x performance increase.
The RAM of the new iPhone will double to 256MB and 16GB and 32GB models of the new iPhone would be offered.
Gruber also confirms rumors that the iPhone 2009 would have a magnetometer, improved camera, and video recording. The announcement of the new iPhone is supposed to take place on June 8th, but Gruber says the shipping will start in July.
