Microsoft is supposed to unveil a new search at the D: All Things Digital next week. There are still some questions on what the new Microsoft search will be called. According to SearchEngineLand it could be called Bing.
Today though I recorded a referral in our realtime traffic log that shows a search query coming from kumo.com: http://www.kumo.com/search?q=sony+led+tv&src=IE-SearchBox&Form=IE8SRC (see screenshot as well).
If you visit kumo.com you still get an empty page.
Unless somebody is spoofing referrals it looks like Microsoft's new search is indeed called Kumo.
The search result is actually pointing to a very old page on our site. This page is ranked by Google on page 2 for the same query.
Kumo would need to do much more than just deliver good results to get people off using Google. I am excited to see what Microsoft thinks the secret sauce of Kumo is supposed to do the trick.
Update: AdAge runs a story that Microsoft plans a major advertising campaign promoting Bing and not Kumo - confusing.
