One of the hottest gadgets for early adopters these days are the Viliv S5 Windows XP MID. Apple is once again predicted to come out with something similar. According to AppleInsider Wall Street analyst Piper Jaffrey sees mounting evidence of an Apple Tablet Device that would have a $700 price point and would be released in 2010.
As reported before, the Apple Tablet rumor goes back to 2002 when the iWalk rumors spread. Recently the Apple Tablet rumors intensified as people wonder what Apple will do to address the ultra portable segment that the netbook craze rekindled.
This year many more touch-screen only mobile Internet devices (MIDs) are expected. Some of them are supposed to be around $200, which will make it really hard for Apple to come out with something that is not going to end up as a niche product. It will also have to have something more than just a bigger screen-size to actually compete with the iPhone or iPod touch.
The Viliv S5 MID sells for the, in my eyes, way too high price of $599, because there are not that many alternatives yet. NVIDIA is though promising us ultra-low cost Tegra MIDs this year.
