Back in January at CES 2009 Sony officially unveiled its odd not-a-netbook called the Vaio P. Despite what Sony wanted us to called the Vaio P, the little rig was a netbook in all but name and sported the porky Vista OS.

Vista isn’t something users want to see on a netbook typically and Sony has finally relented and is now offering the Vaio P with Windows XP stock. The real problem seems to me to not be the OS choice, but rather the price the machine commands and the fact that the screen is small.

The machine will sport the same Atom Z510 CPU, Wi-Fi, WAN, Bluetooth, and other specs. Sony is also reported to be considering new options like a 2GHz Z550 CPU and a 256GB SSD. I shudder to think what the little machine would cost with an SSD that large.
