Back in January we got our first info on JVC's new, massive 42 inch HDTV monitor, the LT-42WX70. Now it's out in stores and, if you can stomach the $2,399.95 price tag, it looks like pretty much the best monitor out on the market.
The Xiview LT-42WX7 is a 120Hz, 1080p, ultra-thin high-def monitor that appears to be aimed at graphic design/digital imaging artists who need a monitor capable of showing off the depth of color and detail that they need for their work. Since the LT-42WX70 has 52 picture-quality adjustment options, users should be able to get things to look exactly the way they want them to. JVC promises you'll be able to edit images source-by-source to the "exact colors and tones" you're looking for.
JVC's new baby measures in at a svelte 1 5/8" thick, and features a smooth, metallic silver back without the faintest sign of screw holes or air vents. The screen itself covers 96% of the monitor's front surface, and it uses the GENESSA 12 bit Picture Engine to display "accurate and natural" colors with a level of quality seldom seen in your run-of-the-mill monitors.
The LT-42WX7 is going to be a bit of a niche machine. Most users don't have $2,400 to drop on a monitor, or enough free desk space to fit this behemoth in. Still, JVC's done an excellent job with this monitor and it should enjoy great success among high-def photographers and other imaging artists. I'm sure it'll also find buyers among the ever-expanding "gamers with more money than common sense" market.
