Zagg makes the super thin invisibleSHIELD protective films that are custom cut to exactly fit the iPhone and several iPod models. The thin clear film protects the iPhone from scratches and was originally a film used by the military to protect helicopter blades.
Zagg and Target stores have announced that over 1,000 Target locations around the country will now be carrying Zagg films for the iPhone 3G, iPod touch, and iPod nano devices. How much the films will cost at Target are unknown, but a full body kit is about $30 online.
The Zagg films can replace the need for a case for scratch protection, but the film can’t really protect your phone in the event of a drop. You can get screen film only to keep your phone safe and still use a case, but when I used Zagg film on my original iPhone for the whole body it was hard to get the device into some cases on the market.
