Apple's earlier announcement at the WWDC has just been confirmed with a press release.
The unibody MacBook Pro notebook line has just been updated to include 13, 15, and 17 inch models, all of which pack Apple's new built-in battery. This internal battery brags a 40% longer battery life, and claims to be much more “eco-friendly” than any other laptop line on the market right now.
The new MacBook Pro line starts at $1,199 with the 13” Macbook, and Apple says that many of the new Pro models beat their predecessors by up to $300. All of the new Pros have a few features in common, including the new batteries, an LED-backlit display, a Multi-Touch trackpad, an illuminated keyboard, an SD or ExpressCard slot, and a FireWire 800 port.
This new pro line is able to boast EPEAT Gold status and meets Energy Star 5.0 requirements. The new Pros have such a tiny eco-footprint because their batteries last much longer than most other laptop batteries out on the market. Apple claims a battery lifespan of three times what “conventional batteries” offer.
Apple has recognized that their notebook line is always going to be a more profitable direction than their desktop line. This revamping of the MacBook Pro gives Apple a high-end “desktop quality” notebook line, and the drop in price means they can attract a wider array of customers to the Apple umbrella.
New MacBook Pro notebooks will be available on the Apple Store.
