This is one collaboration we've been excited about for a while now. LG and Netflix have teamed up to create a new line of Broadband HDTVs loaded up with Netflix software and capable of streaming movies directly from the Netflix website to your television. The days of waiting for a new set of little red envelopes filled with movies are numbered.

The first LG/Netflix televisions to hit stores are the 47” class LCD HDTV, and the 50” class plasma HDTV. Later this summer we can expect to see a 42” LCD and a 50” plasma hit stores. All of the new LG/Netflix televisions are 1080p HDTVs, and all of them come with NetCast Entertainment Access loaded up and ready.

The NetCast library already has over 12,000 movies available for viewing, and several hundred of those titles are in HD. $8.99 a month can get you unlimited access to streaming movies, as well as the same rental rights that all Netflix users enjoy. Users will need a broadband connection in order to stream through their television, and Netflix claims that most titles will start playing within 30 seconds of being selected.

These new HDTVs start at around $2100, and just go up from there. You can check the LG website for more details.
