Garmin has announced a pair of new wearable GPS devices called the Foretrex 401 and Foretrex 301. The two devices have high-sensitivity WAAS-enabled GPS receivers and a USB interface for a lightweight, waterproof device for hikers, skiers, campers, and military personnel to wear on the wrist.

Both units are waterproof and have high-sensitivity receivers with HotFix to quickly acquire and maintain satellite reception. The technology allows the receiver to maintain a fix even in heavy tree cover or deep canyons.

The units also have Trackback features to get you back to where you started. The 401 also features an electronic compass and a barometric altimeter. The device can also wirelessly share routes, tracks, and waypoints between other specific Garmin GPS units. Both devices are powered by a pair of AAA batteries with up to 18 hours of runtime per set in the 301 and up to 17 hours with the 401.
