The iPhone 3.0 update is out, and every Apple fan in the land is either downloading it now, or already messing around on it. The first few hours of tinkering around have already taught us a lot, and several users have found cool, unannounced features in the update. These 'hidden' features have been compiled by a member of the MacRumors forum.
He's already up to 96 features, most of which are fairly minor alterations like letting you search your global address book right from the Contacts app. We've compiled a list of the coolest stealth features below. Enjoy,
1. Multiple calendars are now supported.
2. When you turn the iPhone vertically it will now change to fit the screen instead of continuing on as if the phone were horizontal.
3. The App Store shows your account name at the bottom of the search page. You can click on it to switch accounts, edit account info, or sign out.
4. You can type an SMS message while still waiting for a prior message to send.
5. It is now possible to forward a contact to someone when you look at their contact details.
6. You can get your phone to display your number at the top of your contacts list by editing your preferences in Settings-Phone.
7. The number of open home screen pages has been increased from 9 to 11.
8. If you receive a call while in the middle of working with an app, after the call you are returned to the app.
There are many more hidden features, and you can view them all in the MacRumors forum. Enjoy your new toys, everyone.
