Huawei's hot new line of smartphones just got a little hotter. The Chinese-based manufacturer recently signed an agreement with LocatioNet Systems. LocatioNet makes the “amAze” GPS navigation service, which will soon come pre-installed standard on all Huawei smartphones. If you end up grabbing one of Huawei's new phones (like the Android-laden 8230) amAze will come loaded for your use.
LocatioNet claims that their “unique ad-funded” model makes their amAze navigation system the most economical out there. I have to say, turn-by-turn voice navigation on your smartphone for the price of some ads doesn't seem like too terrible a deal. Of course, 'ad-funded' is a very vague term, and it could always turn out to be more infuriating than I'm anticipating.
Nabbing amAze for their new mobile line is a significant coup for Huawei. It gives their new smartphones something that distinguishes them from competitors. It's very rare to find a smartphone that has the full turn-by-turn voice functionality of a Garmin or Magellan right out of the box. This could very well be the partnership that sets Huawei's products apart from the crowd.
You can find out more details about the amAze application here.
