Bad news, owners of the G1, Magic, and soon-to-be owners of the myTouch 3G; we're not getting HTC's beautiful new Sense UI after all. With the announcement of the Hero we got our first glorious glimpses of the new UI, which sports a really cool widget organization system that lets users save different 'scenes' for different situations. Our excitement over Sense only increased when the CEO of HTC announced that Sense would be coming to other Android headsets.
For about a day, life was beautiful. Then this news came out. Apparently CEO Peter Chou's comments only applied to Android phones without Google branding. It's not HTC's fault they can't offer us a shiny new UI. Doing so would violate their licensing terms with Google.
That doesn't mean Sense will be impossible to get on your Google-branded Android smartphone. The Android ROM community is still alive and well, and I'm sure they'll figure out how to get sense loaded onto a Gphone within a couple days of the Hero's launch. If not well before.
