We typically cram our cars full of all sorts of high tech gear from radios to DVD systems to entertain our kids while on the road. Often many parents forgo any sort of safety tech for their kids, and much of the reason is that their simply isn’t much tech out there.
A new car seat from Safety 1st called the Air Protect is coming to help protect kids from side impact collisions in car accidents. The car seat puts a layer of air protection between the child's head and the hard plastic and foam that make up the head protection of most car seats to reduce the force in a crash.
The Air Protect system doesn’t appear to be an air bag system that inflates rapidly like car air bags, but a system that is filled with air at all times. The convertible car seat is for kids 5 to 50 pounds and will be available for preorder starting today.
